Royal Marines from 43 Commando will also be carrying out waterborne exercises twice daily using PAC24 ribs, Offshore Raiding Craft (ORC) and the French Naval Training Ship VN Partisan.

DSEI is recognised around the world as an opportunity to assess the full array of maritime defence and security products, technologies and equipment, as well as craft design and new systems for surveillance, communications, weapons and navigation.

The exhibition has a designated Naval Zone focusing on topics of current importance to the maritime community with this year having an expanded marina and in depth scenarios.

Admiral Sir George Zambellas, First Sea Lord and Chief of the Naval Staff, said:

The Royal Navy may have centuries of history and tradition, but we are still, at heart, a young Navy, driven by the pursuit of new ideas, powered by young minds.

Behind the sleek grey hull, our ships are changing fast to reflect developments in technology, including novel weapons, autonomous systems and the astonishing advances in data processing power.

Innovation keeps us on the winning side – and through our partnership with industry the UK has the power to lead the world. DSEI is an opportunity to demonstrate the best of UK maritime technology and expertise, not only for the benefit of naval power, but as a force for apprenticeships and skills, jobs and growth.
