Spanish Navy’s Frigate to Join Operation Atalanta

Spanish Navy’s frigate Victoria (F82) yesterday set sail from Rota Naval Base to join the anti-piracy Operation Atalanta off the coast of Somalia.

The vessel will be part of the EU Naval Force from October until February. During this period it will contribute by escorting vulnerable vessels, monitoring fishing activities and preventing any pirate activities in the area.

Victoria is expected to visit Greece, Djibouti, Seychelles, Oman, Tanzania and Dubai. Also scheduled is a stop in Taranto, Italy, where the vessel will take part in EUROMARFOR’s change of command ceremony.
