Spanish Navy Divers Help Repair USS Ross’ Propeller

A Spanish Navy diving unit from Puntales Naval Station has collaborated with U.S. Navy divers in repair works of a propeller blade of the USS Ross in Rota Naval Base, Spain.

A group of American divers and support personnel flew from the US to help repair the damaged blade. The propeller had to be removed from the ship, repaired and placed back again in its shaft.

The Cadiz Diving Unit (UNBUDIZ) participated and collaborated in the repair works along with the US ‘Navy Diver Locker’ from Norfolk, the Navy Regional Maintenance Center and Rota’s ‘Forward Deployed RMC’.

The UNBUDIZ conducted independent diving immersions collaborating with the repair process. This is part of the so-called ‘Underwater Ship Husbandry’ (UWSH) which consists of inspections, maintenance and repair works of ships’ hulls.
