HMS Prince of Wales’ Largest Section on the Move

HMS Prince of Wales reaches milestone – largest section of the aircraft carrier has been floated onto River Clyde in Glasgow.

Royal Navy’s future Queen Elizabeth Class aircraft carrier was rolled onto a barge from BAE Systems’ facilities in the early hours of August 2.

According to STV News, the section (Lower Block 04) will contain accommodation, machinery space and the hangar of the aircraft carrier.

The 11,000 tonne section will soon depart on a journey to Rosyth where final assembly will take place.

HMS Prince of Wales is the second of the 65,000 tonne Queen Elizabeth Class aircraft carriers being built for the Royal Navy.
