The Indian Navy Sail Training Ship, the INS Tarangini, sailed into Plymouth, UK, for a three day visit.

INS Tarangini is on an eight month voyage from India to take part in the annual Tall Ship Races in Europe.

The ship set off from their home port of Kochi at the end of April and between then and December they will travel approximately 17,000 nautical miles, visit 17 ports, sailing in three oceans through eight seas while training a total of 150 Naval officers.

This year’s Tall Ship Races are primarily off the coast of the UK, Norway, Denmark, Germany and The Netherlands. Tarangini will take part in the race from Kristiansand (Norway) to Aalborg (Denmark). She will also participate in associated sail events such as Sail Rostock, Sail Bremerhaven in Germany and Sail Amsterdam in The Netherlands.

About 300 sail ships of various sizes from all over the world are expected to participate in this year’s events.
