HMAS Darwin Hosted Foreign Military Members

On 24 June HMAS Darwin played host to a group of foreign military members who all call Australia home – at least temporarily!

The Defence Attaches toured the Australian frigate as part of their ongoing exposure to the Australian military to assist with their daily work for their home country.

HMAS Darwin embarked the group, who normally work from Canberra, whilst exercising off the New South Wales coast.

At least once a year Defence Attaches tour Navy, Army and Air Force units in order to familiarise themselves with the way the Australian Defence Force operates.

Nationalities represented during this visit included the United States, New Zealand, the Netherlands, Singapore, Iraq, Mexico, Thailand, Chile, Argentina and Pakistan.

During their visit, the Defence Attaches toured the ship and were able to witness the crew engaged in a Damage Control Exercise.

HMAS Darwin is currently completing her Sea Qualification Trials and Air Safety Assessment prior to commencing her work up in July.
