Theodore Roosevelt Hosts Saudi Defense Minister

The Minister of Defense of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, flew aboard the aircraft carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN 71) July 7 to observe carrier operations at sea.

The arrival of His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Second Deputy Premier, Deputy Crown Prince, Minister of Defense of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, was marked by eight bells and salutes from sideboys as Rear Adm. Andrew Lewis, commander, Carrier Strike Group (CSG) 12, greeted Al Saud upon his arrival.

After being welcomed onboard, Al Saud observed flight operations as aircraft launched from and landed aboard Theodore Roosevelt’s flight deck. Lewis and Al Saud then discussed the Theodore Roosevelt Carrier Strike Group’s (TRCSG) goals and strategies while operating in the Arabian Gulf.

The tour took guests to the ship’s Flag Bridge, Tactical Flag Command Center, and Combat Direction Center.

Following the tour Al Saud expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to visit Theodore Roosevelt before departing the ship on a C-2A Greyhound assigned to the Rawhides of Fleet Logistics Support Squadron (VRC) 40.
