HMS Scott Carries Out Rescue Training

The fourth largest ship in the Royal Navy and only deep ocean survey vessel, HMS Scott, conducted training intended to simulate rescuing evacuees from a troubled port on Monday, June 29th.

The mission is known as a NEO, or Non-Combatant Evacuation Operation, and is a scenario run by all Royal Navy warships going through Operational Sea Training before they are certified to deploy.

Such a scenario prepares warships designed for a much different kind of operation, to switch gears and focus on the care and compassion of civilians suffering from civil war or unrest.
