US Navy’s Secretary of the Navy Ray Mabus announced this month Carrier Strike Group (CSG) 4 was among the recipients of the 2015 Safety Excellence Awards.
CSG-4 was chosen as the top command in the Emerging Safety Center of Excellence category in the competition, which recognizes Navy and Marine Corps units for unparalleled safety achievements during the previous fiscal year (FY).
Earlier this year, CSG-4 received the FY 2014 CNO Shore Safety Award. CNO and CMC safety award recipients automatically compete for SECNAV Safety Excellence Awards in their respective categories.
Award recipients earn the right to fly the SECNAV Safety Flag for the next year and will receive a commemorative plaque during an awards ceremony scheduled for July.
