The Royal Canadian Navy (RCN) will participate in Canada Day celebrations across the country on July 1st, 2015.
RCN vessels from the Pacific and Atlantic fleets will visit several coastal and inland communities throughout the provinces of Nova Scotia, Québec and British Columbia and will be open for public tours.
“Canada Day is a great opportunity for the public to meet members of our Royal Canadian Navy and to see first-hand the important work they do on behalf of all Canadians. I look forward to joining Canadian Armed Forces members and their families serving at home or abroad in celebrating Canada Day and to pay tribute to those defending Canadian interests and values.” , said Vice Admiral Mark Norman, Commander of the Royal Canadian Navy.
Her Majesty’s Canadian Ship (HMCS) Charlottetown, one of the RCN’s newly modernized frigates, will be open to visitors in downtown Halifax from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. as part of the city’s celebrations.
The Royal Canadian Navy has a long history of reaching out to communities at home and abroad in an ongoing effort to enhance relationships at all levels. Through day sails, community relations events, and port visits, Canadians gain a better appreciation and understanding of the roles and responsibilities of their navy.
