USS Fort McHenry Pays Visit to Bar, Montenegro

US Navy’s Whidbey Island-class dock landing ship USS Fort McHenry (LSD 43) and her crew arrived in Bar, Montenegro, for a scheduled port visit June 24.

The port visit serves to enhance relations between the United States and Montenegro as the two nations work together to provide a stable, secure, and prosperous Europe.

This is the first port of call for the Sailors and Marines after re-entering the U.S. 6th Fleet area of operations and marks the beginning of the ship’s homeward journey after spending more than six months at sea.

Fort McHenry, homeported in Mayport, Florida and deployed as part of the Iwo Jima Amphibious Ready Group/24th Marine Expeditionary Unit is conducting naval operations in the U.S. 6th Fleet area of operations in support of U.S. national security interests in Europe.
