USS Ross, Ukrainian Navy Engage in Exercise

The Arleigh-Burke class guided-missile destroyer USS Ross (DDG 71) kicks off a two-day underway exercise with the Ukrainian navy Frigate Hetman Sahaydachniy (U 130), June 1, 2015.

The 2-day exercise is being conducted in international waters and is scheduled to end today, June 2.

The purpose of Ross’ presence in the Black Sea is to reassure NATO allies and regional partners of the United States’ commitment to working closely with them to enhance maritime security and stability in the region.

USS Ross (DDG 71), forward-deployed to Rota, Spain, is on a routine patrol conducting naval operations with allies and partners in the U.S. 6th Fleet area of operations in order to advance security and stability in the Black Sea region.
