USS Jason Dunham Visits Haakonsvern, Norway

The Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Jason Dunham (DDG 109) arrived in Haakonsvern, Norway, for a scheduled port visit, May 13, 2015.

Jason Dunham’s presence in the Norway serves to reaffirm the U.S. dedication and commitment toward strengthening the partnerships and joint operational capabilities amongst U.S. and NATO.

Cmdr. Darren Dugan, USS Jason Dunham commanding officer, said:

Our visit here in Haakonsvern is an incredibly important opportunity to engage with and forge stronger bonds with our allies. We will get the chance to meet with personnel representing six other partner nations, the first time we will have worked with so many of our naval counterparts at once during this deployment.

Jason Dunham is currently operating in the North and Baltic Seas, working with allies and regional partners to help develop and improve our maritime forces, maintain regional security, and work towards mutual goals in order to advance security and stability in Europe.
