Image of the Day: USS Ross Sails the Med

The guided-missile destroyer USS Ross (DDG 71) transits the Mediterranean Sea.

Ross is conducting naval operations in the U.S. 6th Fleet area of operations in support of U.S. national security interests in Europe.

Ross’ keel was laid on 10 April 1995 by Ingalls Shipbuilding in Pascagoula, Mississippi and her christening was held a year later. Her plankowning crew moved aboard in April 1997 and sailed her to Galveston, Texas for the commissioning on 28 June 1997.
