French Navy’s patrol boat FS Pluvier (P 678) sailed into the Lithuanian Klaipėda Seaport for a friendly visit today.

The vessel will take a short rest in the port, after which it will continue its deployment on May 13.

During the visit her crew and representatives of the Lithuanian Navy will pay tribute to French prisoners of war who perished while building the King Wilhelm Canal and attend other formal events that will be conducted in the presence of the Ambassador of France and the Vice Minister of National Defence, Mr Marijus Velička.

The French ship will also be open to the general public.

The FS Pluvier (P 678) arrives in Klaipėda after taking part in an international search and rescue exercise Baltic Sarex that had taken place in the Baltic Sea near the island of Bornholm, Denmark. Lithuania was represented in the exercise that ran on May 4-9 by the LNS Aukštaitis (P 14), a patrol boat of the Lithuanian Navy.
