Italian Navy’s frigate ITS Euro finished its mission as part of Standing NATO Maritime Countermeasures Group Two (SNMCMG2).
ITS Euro returned to its homeport of Taranto on May 1 after being deployed for over three months. The vessel was boarded by NATO SNMCMG2 Command on December 28, 2014, and it officially started its mission on January 19 when it departed Taranto. ITS Euro conducted operations in the Mediterranean Sea, the Atlantic Ocean and the North Sea.
During the deployment the vessel took part in Operation Active Endeavour, various NATO exercises and conducted WWII mine clearing operations.
This move also signifies the end of Italy’s command over SNMCMG2.
