US 6th Fleet Operation Highlights

US Sailors, operating forward in the U.S. 6th Fleet, conduct daily operations, port visits and engage with allies and partners to maintain a forward presence throughout Europe and Africa and improve maritime security.

Hereby we bring you a part of the 6th Fleet’s operations.

While in Souda Bay, Greece, on April 10, Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Laboon’s Sailors performed necessary maintenance operations. They conducted maintenance on a Surface Vessel Torpedo Tube and on a P100 pump on the flight deck.

Later, on April 11, as part of preparing for deployment in the Mediterranean Sea, the vessel disconnected a hose providing water from the pier in Souda Bay, Greece.

As USS Laboon left Souda Bay on April 11, USS Ross (DDG 71) arrived in the area.

After mooring in the port, USS Ross conducted a visit board search and seizure (VBSS) training exercise on April 13.

USS Laboon and Ross are conducting naval operations in the U.S. 6th Fleet area of operations in support of U.S. national security interests in Europe.
