Omani Navy’s New HSSVs Get Bridge Layout Approval

The bridge layout for two 72 metre High Speed Support Vessels (HSSVs) for the Royal Navy of Oman has been formally approved during a ceremony held at Austal Australia’s shipyard in Henderson, Western Australia today.

Austal was awarded a US$124.9 million contract for the design, construction and integrated logistics support of two HSSVs in March 2014. The vessels are being designed and constructed at Austal Australia’s Henderson Shipyard. Construction has commenced as planned and both vessels are expected to be delivered in CY2016.

Apart from the HSSVs, Austal Australia is also prime contractor for eight Cape Class Patrol Boats for the Australian Customs and Border Protection Service being designed and constructed at its Henderson Shipyard. In the United States, Austal USA is delivering ten Littoral Combat Ships (LCS) and ten Joint High Speed Vessels (JHSV) for the United States Navy, at the Company’s shipyard in Mobile, Alabama.
