NATO’s Groups Neutralize Two Mines off France

Standing NATO Mine Countermeasure Groups recently engaged in operations to clear the sea lanes of World War II mines.

During the North Sea operation, titled FR HOD (Historical Ordnance Disposal), the groups are working together on detecting mines in the English Channel, and afterwards detonating them in a secure area. So far, two mines from the Second World War were located off Dieppe, France, and were safely neutralized.

The operation started on March 23 and will last until March 30.
