Cypus Allows Russian Navy Vessels to Enter Its Ports

Russia and Cypus signed an agreement allowing Russian Navy vessels to dock in Cypriot ports.

This was one of many agreements reached between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Cypriot President Nicos Anastasiades on Wednesday.

As tensions between Russia and Western countries continue over Ukraine, Putin said that this cooperation in not directed against any third party and that the vessels docking in Cypriot ports will be a part of international anti-terrorism and anti-piracy operations, Associated Press reports.

This move is a part of Russia’s aim to expand global military presence, as well as strengthen ties with Cyprus.
