HMCS Fredericton Crew Visits Agira War Cemetery

Members of the ship’s company of HMCS Fredericton visited the Agira Canadian War Cemetery in the Sicilian countryside January 23, 2015, to pay respects to the sailors, soldiers and airmen who fought and died during the Sicilian Campaign of the Second World War.

In all, 490 Canadians lay atop the hill, six of whom are unidentified.

Padre Francesca Scorsone led a short ceremony. The Commanding Officer, accompanied by the Coxswain, laid a wreath marking the visit by HMCS Fredericton. Upon completion of the ceremony, a few members took the time to sign the visitors’ book.
