USS Independence Arrives in Pensacola

US Navy’s Independence-class littoral combat ship arrived at the Naval Air Station Pensacola, Florida, on Friday, February 20.

USS Independence will soon start conducting operational evaluation and testing of the mine countermeasures mission package, as reported by Pensacola News Journal.

The vessel departed San Diego on January 30, and docked at Allegheny Pier upon its arrival.

Independence, the lead ship of the Independence variant of the littoral combat ship, is expected to return to San Diego later this year.
