Commander JFC Naples Visits MARCOM

The Commander of Joint Force Command Naples, Admiral Mark Ferguson visited NATO Allied Maritime Command (MARCOM) met with the Commander MARCOM, Vice Admiral Peter Hudson on February 16.

This was Admiral Ferguson’s first visit to MARCOM since assuming command of JFC Naples in July 2014. In additon to his NATO responsibilities, Admiral Ferguson is also Commander U.S. Naval Forces Europe and Africa.

Admiral Ferguson and Vice Admiral Hudson discussed MARCOM and JFC Naples synergies in the implementation of NATO’s Readiness Action Plan, including the establishment of a Very High Readiness Joint Task Force (VJTF) mandated at the September 2014 Wales Summit. The US contribution to training NATO’s Standing Naval Forces’ was explored. Admiral Ferguson was also briefed on MARCOM’s current and future operations, as well as engagements with NATO’s Mediterranean Dialogue (MD) and Istanbul Cooperation Initiative (ICI) Partners.

In advance of MARCOM’s full operational capability (FOC) certification exercise TRIDENT JEWEL 15, Admiral Ferguson also shared with the MARCOM Command Group, the experience and lessons derived from JFC Naples’ successful Exercise TRIDENT JUNCTURE 14, conducted in November.
