HMAS Success Celebrates Australia Day in the Middle East

HMAS Success celebrated this year’s Australia Day while deployed to Operation MANITOU, the Australian Government’s contribution to the maritime security effort in Middle Eastern waters for the Combined Maritimes Forces.

The crew did their best to bring home to the other side of the globe with ship-borne activities and a low tempo afternoon in between her operational responsibilities.

Commanding Officer, Captain Justin Jones, kicked off the celebrations with a Clear Lower Deck where he addressed the ship’s company and conducted medal and award presentations to the crew.

As part of Combined Task Force 53, Success provides logistical support to coalition naval ships in the area, enabling them to remain on patrol for longer periods.

Success will contribute to counter-terrorism and counter-smuggling operations while in the Middle East but providing logistical support to coalition ships remains her primary task.
