Head of Swedish Navy Visits EU Naval Force HQ

The head of the Royal Swedish Navy, Rear Admiral Jan Thörnqvist, visited the Operational Headquarters of the EU Naval Force at their Northwood Base in London, yesterday.

Rear Admiral Jan Thörnqvist was met by the Operation Commander of the EU Naval Force, Major General Martin Smith MBE, the Deputy Commander of the EU Naval Force, Rear Admiral Paolo Pezzutti and the Deputy Chief of Staff (Operations) from NATO Maritime Command, Commondore Arian Minderhoud.

During his visit Rear Admiral Jan Thörnqvist was given a presentation on the European Union’s counter-piracy mission off the coast of Somalia and introduced to members of the multi-national staff, including the Swedish military officers, who work in the Operational Headquarters.
