Image of the Day: HMAS Success Seahawk

We bring you this impressive image of the Australian Navy’s Leading Seaman Aviation Technician Matthew Galloway signalling to the HMAS Success Seahawk “ODIN” as it is secured after flight in the Middle East Region as part of Operation MANITOU.

HMAS Success sailed to the Middle East Region in November 2014 for a six-month deployment as part of Operation MANITOU.

Force assigned to Joint Task Force 633 and part of Combined Task Force 53, her role involves providing logistic support to coalition navy ships in the area, enabling them to spend longer periods on task by providing them with fuel and stores.

Success also provides support to Combined Task Force 150 by conducting boardings when required. Operation Manitou is the Australian Government’s contribution to maritime security, counter-piracy and counter-terrorism in the region.

The Combined Maritime Forces is a multinational coalition based in the Middle East which seeks to promote security, stability and prosperity in the maritime domain which encompass some of the world’s most important shipping lanes.
