USS Winston S. Churchill, USNS Arctic Engage in RAS

The Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Winston S. Churchill (DDG 81) filled up its tanks during a recent replenishment-at-sea.

The destroyer met with the Military Sealift Command fleet replenishment oiler USNS Arctic (T-AOE 8) for a RAS in the Atlantic Ocean on January 28.

Churchill is underway conducting a composite training unit exercise along with the Theodore Roosevelt Carrier Strike Group in preparation for an upcoming scheduled deployment. The vessel, a part of the Carrier Strike Group Ten, is the 31st destroyer of an originally planned 62-ship class.

Churchill is homeported in Naval Station Norfolk, Virginia.
