Spanish Navy Saves 22 Migrants in Alboran Sea

The Spanish Navy engaged in a migrant rescue operation in the Alboran Sea on January 27.

The Navy’s Serviola class Patrol boat Vigía (P-73), which is conducting maritime surveillance tasks in the Alboran Sea, managed to save the lives of 22 migrants in cooperation with the Maritime Security and Rescue Society. Sailing from the Moroccan coast, the migrants came in vicinity of the Alboran Island aboard an inflatable dinghy.

Once the patrol vessel spotted the dinghy, they observed it until the salvage vessel Salvamar Hamal arrived. The migrants then embarked the salvage vessel, and were taken to the port of Almeria.
