Sri Lanka Navy Arrests Six Fishermen

Sri Lanka Navy’s patrol craft, attached to SLN Dockyard of the Eastern Naval Command, arrested six persons engaged in illegal fishing in the general area of Upparu in Trincomalee.

The operation occurred on January 21, 2015. The authorities said that the fishermen had been fishing using an illegal purse seine net when they were arrested by the naval craft on routine patrol.

The arrested persons with the illegal fish catch were handed over to the Trincomalee Harbor Police for further investigations.
