The Armed Forces of Malta Rescue Coordination Centre has been monitoring a vessel carrying around 80 adults off Malta, according to social media.
AFM soon decided to proceed with a rescue operation due to inclement weather conditions. The operation took place this morning when the AFM patrol boats deployed East of Malta.
Personnel involved in the rescue op used all precautionary measures to assure safety of the migrants and the AFM crew.
After the migrants were transferred onto the AFM vessels, they left for Hay Wharf Base in Floriana.
