USS Donald Cook Strengthens Ties with Constanta, Romania

Authorities

The US Navy’s Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Donald Cook (DDG 75) arrived in Constanta, Romania, for a scheduled port visit, Dec. 30.

Donald Cook’s visit to Romania reaffirms to NATO allies that the U.S. Navy shares a commitment to strengthening ties, while working toward mutual goals of promoting peace and stability in the Black Sea region.

The visit provided the opportunity for the crew to engage with their Romanian counterparts in more than just an operational capacity.

Prior to mooring in Constanta, Donald Cook operated with the Turkish navy. The ship’s participation in combined underway tactical exchanges with the Turkish navy helps the U.S. continue its efforts to strengthen maritime partnerships in the region.
