USS Dewey Waves Goodbye to Salalah, Oman

The Arleigh Burke-class guided missile destroyer USS Dewey (DDG 105) departed Salalah after a four-day port visit, Dec. 3.

While in port, Sailors from Dewey were able to enjoy liberty and partake in various Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR) sponsored events.

There were many tours offered in Salalah during which the Sailors also got to interact with the Omani locals, learning about the region’s culture and history.

Dewey is deployed in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations supporting Operation Inherent Resolve, strike operations in Iraq and Syria as directed, maritime security operations, and theater security cooperation efforts in the region.
