U.S. Naval Forces Europe-Africa (NAVEUR-NAVAF) named Personnel Specialist 1st Class Roger Estrada, from Upland, California, as the command’s Sailor in the Spotlight, Dec. 4, 2014.
During a ceremony amongst his peers, Estrada was announced and personally congratulated by NAVEUR-NAVAF Chief of Staff Rear Adm. John Nowell for his performance.
During Operation United Assistance, Estrada monitored and tracked, with 100 percent accountability, all Navy and civilian personnel entering and leaving the U.S. 6th Fleet area of operations, as well as all personnel in various operations in Europe and Africa.
U.S. Naval Forces Europe-Africa/U.S. 6th Fleet, headquartered in Naples, Italy, conducts the full spectrum of joint and naval operations, often in concert with allied, joint, and interagency partners, in order to advance U.S. national interests and security and stability in Europe and Africa.
