Commander of French Submarine Forces Pays Visit to NATO MARCOM

The Commander of French Submarine and Strategic Oceanic Forces (ALFOST), Vice Admiral Louis-Michel Guillaume, and his Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations Captain Bertrand Dumoulin, visited NATO Allied Maritime Command (MARCOM) to meet with the MARCOM Command Group following his appointment in September.

During the visit, Vice Admiral Guillaume met with MARCOM Commander, Vice Admiral Peter Hudson, and sat down with MARCOM Deputy Commander, Vice Admiral Bruno Paulmier, and Commander Allied Submarine Command Rear Admiral Robert Kamensky to introduce him to the roles and responsibilities of COMSUBNATO and to discuss submarine participation in NATO maritime operations and exercises, to include counter-terrorism Operation ACTIVE ENDEAVOUR and the forthcoming Exercise DYNAMIC MONGOOSE 2015.

Vice Admiral Paulmier said:

We are working closely with Allied submarine operating nations to better integrate their forces into our exercises and operations, and this visit served to enhance understanding of both parties as to our challenges and our opportunities.

Vice Admiral Guillaume also took the opportunity to sit down with MARCOM’s French submarine officers to discuss national issues within the submarine force.
