HDMS Niels Juel Pays Visit to Halifax, Canada

His Danish Majesty’s Ship (HDMS) Niels Juel sailed into the Canadian port of Halifax for a two-day visit.

Rear Admiral John Newton, Commander of Maritime Forces Atlantic, stated:

Canada and Denmark share many common traits; we are maritime countries, long-time Arctic partners and share similar views and approaches to international peace and security. It is not surprising that Canada has historically maintained a solid foundation of defence cooperation with Denmark, recently demonstrated through this past summer’s training exercises held in the Canadian Arctic with HDMS Triton and operations such as the NATO-led Afghanistan and Libyan missions.

Our countries are both founding members of NATO and are firmly committed to the Alliance and strong trans-Atlantic relations.

To this end, I know the defence team of Maritime Forces Atlantic are looking forward to the visit of HDMS Niels Juel and its crew.
