SNMCMG-2 Takes Part in Exercise Ariadne 2014

After engagement in Noble Justification from 13 to 26 October 2014 and obtaining a certification from NATO Response Force, the Standing NATO Mine Countermeasures Group 2 (SNMCMG-2) continued on to enhance its skills in exercise Ariadne 2014.

This year’s training will include, besides SNMCMG-2, HS Adrias, HS Kalypso, HS Kallisto, HS Kassos, FS FGS Lyre, BS BGR Priboy, the Under Water Demolition Command of the Hellenic Navy, the Naval Command of Ionian as well as fighters of HAF (Hellenic Air Force).

SNMCMG-2 currently consists of the ITS Aviere, FGS Homburg, TCG Erdek, HMS Grimsby and the HS Europi.

The Annual Naval Training Ariadne 14 is being held from 6 to 17 November 2014 in the area of Ionian Sea and the Gulf of Patras. The exercise focuses mainly on Naval Mine Warfare, as well as on anti-air defense.
