USS Cape St. George Docks in Yokosuka, Japan

The Ticonderoga-class guided-missile cruiser USS Cape St. George (CG 71) arrived in Yokosuka, Japan for a goodwill port visit and maintenance availability Oct. 27 to Nov. 3.

The ship’s crew of more than 300 Sailors took advantage of liberty experiencing a new culture and visiting historical sites while enjoying food and history in Yokosuka, Yokohama, Tokyo, and the surrounding areas.

Thus far, Cape St. George has participated in two large exercises during their deployment, Rim of the Pacific 2014 and Valiant Shield 2014. The ship and crew will continue operations with the George Washington Carrier Strike Group while meeting the Navy’s forward presence mission.

Cape St. George, homeported is San Diego, is on deployment in the 7th Fleet area of operations supporting security and stability in the Indo-Asia-Pacific region.
