USS Cole Waves Goodbye to the Black Sea

The Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Cole (DDG 67) departed the Black Sea after a series of engagements promoting peace and stability in the region, Oct. 30.

The purpose behind Cole’s presence in the Black Sea was to work with the U.S. 6th Fleet command and control ship USS Mount Whitney (LCC 20), along with NATO allies and partners, to develop and improve US maritime forces, maintain regional security and work towards mutual goals in order to advance security and stability in the region.
