USS Mount Whitney Pays Visit to Batumi, Georgia

The U.S. 6th Fleet command and control ship USS Mount Whitney (LCC 20) arrived in Batumi, Georgia, for a scheduled port visit, Oct. 14.


USS Mount Whitney Pays Visit to Batumi, Georgia

Mount Whitney’s presence in Georgia reaffirms to partner countries that the U.S. Navy shares a commitment to the common goal of promoting security and stability within the region, while enhancing the interoperability between partner countries. This port visit marks the second time in the past two years that the flagship has visited Batumi.

While in Georgia, Mount Whitney is scheduled to participate in a joint training exercise with Georgian counterparts. The focus of this exercise will include damage control, medical first aid, tactical signaling and force protection training onboard the ship.

Capt. Mark Colombo, commanding officer of the Mount Whitney, said: “Mount Whitney is here to strengthen ties in support of our enduring partnership with Georgia. We are looking forward to meeting, training and interacting with our Georgian counterparts over the next few days and advancing our common goal of safety, stability and security.”
