Indonesia, EU NAVFOR Discuss Counter-Piracy Cooperation

On Tuesday 14 October a delegation of senior officers from the Indonesian Defence Forces visited the EU Naval Force Operational Headquarters (OHQ) in Northwood.

The delegation led by Vice Admiral Ade Supandi, Chief of the General Staff of the Indonesian Defence Forces was welcomed by the Operation Commander of EU Naval Force, Major General Martin Smith MBE.

The Indonesian officers were given a detailed briefing on Operation Atalanta, the EU’s counter piracy mission off the coast of Somalia and a tour of the OHQ and Maritime Security Centre Horn of Africa (MSCHOA).

The delegation then held discussions with Major General Smith and the Deputy Operation Commander, Brigadier General Dick Swijgman, to explore potential future cooperation in counter-piracy operations.
