The port visit continues the U.S. 6th Fleet’s efforts to strengthen maritime partnerships in order to enhance regional stability.

“The opportunities to interact with our allies during port visits signify the importance of forward presence,” said Commanding Officer Cmdr. Sean K. Burke. “We must collectively work together to share information and experiences for regional stability.”

The visit also affords Gunston Hall Sailors the opportunity to experience the culture and sights of the host country, Cyprus.

While in port, the ship’s Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) Organization planned tours that explore the culture and scenery of Cyprus.

U.S. 6th Fleet, headquartered in Naples, Italy, conducts the full spectrum of joint and naval operations, often in concert with allied, joint, and interagency partners, in order to advance U.S. national interests and security and stability in Europe and Africa.
