US Coast Guard Saves Fisherman near Cape Charles

The US Coast Guard medevaced a 68-year-old man Wednesday from the 200-foot fishing vessel Tidelands approximately five miles northeast of Great Machipongo Inlet near Cape Charles.

 

A crewmember aboard the boat contacted Coast Guard watchstanders at approximately 3 p.m., stating the man had possibly suffered an injury to his hand.

Watchstanders from Sector Hampton Roads launched a 45-foot Response Boat-Medium crew from Coast Guard Station Cape Charles to assist.

The RB-M crew arrived on scene, transferred him aboard the Coast Guard boat and transferred him to awaiting emergency medical services personnel at Coast Guard Station Cape Charles.
