USCG Assists Disabled Vessel Near Fort Adams, Newport

A US Coast Guard Station Castle Hill, Rhode Island crew assisted a disabled 34-foot vessel with three people aboard in the vicinity of Fort Adams in Newport, Rhode Island, Tuesday.

At approximately 7:50 a.m., the vessel Kaborka reported a fire aboard their vessel to watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Southeastern New England.

A Station Castle Hill 45-foot Response Boat-Medium crew immediately launched and arrived on scene along with the Newport Harbormaster. The harbormaster transferred the three people from the Kaborka to the harbormaster’s vessel. Upon inspection of the vessel, Station Castle Hill crewmembers determined that the engine had overheated causing smoke but no flames.

The Station Castle Hill crew safely towed the vessel into Newport Harbor.

There were no injuries reported.
