Missing Diver Located Near Cape Flattery, Washington

A US Coast Guard Station Neah Bay 47-foot Motor Life Boat crew rescued a Port Orchard, Washington, diver who was reported missing after a solo dive near Cape Flattery, Washington, Tuesday.

 

The boat crew located the diver who was waving for help, recovered him and transported him to Station Neah Bay where he was transferred to local emergency medical services.

Sector Puget Sound watchstanders received the report at 9:36 a.m. of the missing diver from a concerned friend, via VHF radio, stating that his friend had not resurfaced after the proper amount of dive time, and due to thick fog, was unable to locate him on the water’s surface.

An Air Station Port Angeles MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew was launched along with the Neah Bay MLB crew.

The diver was reported to be in good condition, however was transported to the local hospital for further medical evaluation.
