Sri Lanka Navy Arrests 12 for Illegal Fishing

Sri Lanka Naval troops attached to SLNS Gajaba of the North Central Naval Command arrested 12 persons engaged in illegal fishing.

 

The fishermen were using explosives in the general area of Periyakadai in the Mannar District on 13th August 2014.

The arrested persons, along with 533 kilograms of illegal fish catch, were handed over to the Assistant Director of the Fisheries Department in Mannar for further investigations.
