Colombian Navy Stops Three Illegal Immigrants

The Colombian Navy intercepted a vessel carrying three Cuban nationals who were trying to reach the United States through Colombia, Central America.

As part of the initiative of developing maritime control and national sovereignty in the general area of the Gulf of Urabá, the Coast Guard Station Uraba near Sapzurro, Chocó, boarded the vessel that was transporting the illegal immigrants towards Panama.

A Colombian citizen was arrested for assisting the immigrants, and the foreigners were turned over to the Colombian Immigration Department.

In this year alone, 59 illegal immigrants have been detained by the Navy after trying to cross the waters of the Caribbean Sea.
