Spanish Navy’s ‘Vigía’ Engages in Search and Rescue Op

The Spanish Navy’s patrol vessel ‘ Vigía ‘ P-73 took part in a search and rescue operation involving numerous immigrants.

A large number of vessels with immigrants was detected in the Strait of Gibraltar earlier on Tuesday. A total number of 94 boats carrying 920 immigrants was captured, and the immigrant were rescued and taken ashore.

Of that, ‘ Vigía ‘ managed to locate six vessels with 48 immigrants on board.

Besides the Spanish Navy’s ‘ Vigía ‘, a Civil Guard vessel along with 5 boats and a helicopter from the Maritime Rescue Service participated in the rescue operation.
