Spanish Navy's 'Vigía' Engages in Search and Rescue Op

The Spanish Navy’s patrol vessel ‘Vigía‘ P-73 took part in a search and rescue operation involving numerous immigrants.

 

A large number of vessels with immigrants was detected in the Strait of Gibraltar earlier on Tuesday. A total number of 94 boats carrying 920 immigrants was captured, and the immigrant were rescued and taken ashore.

Of that, ‘Vigía‘ managed to locate six vessels with 48 immigrants on board.

Besides the Spanish Navy’s ‘Vigía‘, a Civil Guard vessel along with 5 boats and a helicopter from the Maritime Rescue Service participated in the rescue operation.
