George H.W. Bush Strike Group Officers Promoted

Fifty-five 1st class petty officers attached to George H.W. Bush Strike Group were selected for advancement to chief petty officer (CPO), Aug. 6.

While operating in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of responsibility, the selectees were named during a ship-wide announcement.

Selectees will now wear a “Selectee” badge, and will soon change their title to “chief,” forever changing their naval careers.

Command Master Chief David Carter said the outstanding Sailors were selected for advancement based upon their “potential” to be chief petty officers. It’s the job of the CPO Mess to help them realize that potential and actually become “the chief” Sept. 16.

GHWB CSG deployed Feb. 15, 2014, and is operating in the 5th Fleet area of responsibility conducting maritime security operations, theater security cooperation efforts and support missions as part of Operation Enduring Freedom.
