Italian Navy Rescues Over 2.000 Migrants

During the past week end, Italian Navy ships engaged in Operation Mare Nostrum have rescued 2,053 migrants.

 

Also, the Italian Port Authorities provided their support to the operation with Dattilo and other patrol forces.

Yesterday, patroller Borsini disembarked 166 migrants (including 14 women and 34 children) in Pozzallo harbor; frigate Fasan disembarked 198 migrants (24 women and 61 children) in Augusta port.

This morning, amphibious vessel San Giusto is ferrying 1,689 migrants rescued by corvette Urania, to Reggio Calabria.
