Four Fishermen Rescued Near Cartagena

Four Wayuu fishermen who were reported missing since Sunday, August 3, were rescued after a five-day search.

The fishermen were on a 15-day trip sailing from Manaure, La Guajira, aboard the fishing vessel “Castrago”. After receiving information that the vessel was missing with four crew members, the Colombian Navy launched a search operation.

US Coast Guard ship USS United States “Legare” located the fishing vessel about 80 nautical miles northwest of Cartagena.

The Colombian Navy has managed to rescue 497 people in the Colombian Caribbean this year.
